Rubens 360ยบ

December 23, 2010

The Prado website (in Spanish) offers an interactive view of their Peter Paul Rubens artworks.

There are hyperlinks embedded into the video that open up images, video, or audio pages to show more about those particular works. The image files are high resolution that you can zoom into and pan. The upper-right “x” closes it and takes you back to the previous screen. The overall navigation is somewhat awkward but it’s worth looking at if you enjoy Rubens.

Sketching at the Park

December 18, 2010

It was unusually warm outside a few days ago so I stopped by a local park to do some sketching. I found this woman enjoying the sun. Pencil drawing @ 8×10 inches.

Cafe Sketch

December 10, 2010

Here’s a new sketch recently completed. It’s my friend Anne having a glass of wine during a break from shopping. It took me a couple of throw aways to get get this right. I guess I was a little rusty. The final drawing was finished later.

The media is oil pencil on toned paper. The middle tone is a warm gray Faber-Castell Polychromos pencil, and the other two are a black and light grey made by Walnut Hollow. They make nice smooth marks but don’t erase easily, which means they don’t smudge easily either. Good for sketch books.
