New Drawing: Berenice’s Hair by Borghi

July 3, 2018

It was too hot to step outside today, so I spent time looking for something to draw online, and found a photo of a sculpture by Ambrogio Borghi called “Berenice’s Hair” (Chioma Di Berenice) that I thought would work. Drawn with sumi ink with a Pentel water brush, @ 10 x 17″.

Two Sketches: Monument to the Immigrants

March 25, 2016

These two were drawn on location in New Orleans a couple years ago. It’s a statue at Woldenberg Park by the water, made by Franco Alessandrini. I understand that he had recently done some restoration work on it, so I’m glad I stopped by when I did. The subject matter is coincidentally appropriate right now in our turbulent times.

New Drawing: The Boyhood of Cain

August 28, 2013

This drawing comes from a photo in my reference file of a sculpture by Teixeira Lopes titled “The Boyhood of Cain.” I liked the lighting on it, and the strong pose of an anguished child. The size of the drawing is 7.5 x 11 inches, drawn in graphite.

This is a drawing based on a photo I took in Dallas a couple years ago of a statue commemorating Rosa Parks. It’s drawn with a sepia ink PITT brush marker on cardstock paper, 8.5 x 11 inches.
