New Drawing: Crowded Shelter

March 30, 2013

This was made from a couple old photos taken after helping out at a homeless shelter. The scene has been edited a bit with the pencil, as the people weren’t quite this jammed together. The size is about 9 x 12″.

  1. Do check out Henry Moore’s sketches of those sleeping in the London underground during the war. HM was a war artist and I prefer his drawings to his sculptures – they are so atmospheric. Tate Britain holds a number of his drawings.

    • He definitely drew like a sculptor.

  2. There is a certain feel of coziness in your composition.
